Centquatre, new artistic place in Paris

The Centquatre (104) openened in October 2008 and is one of the former Municipal Funeral Service of Paris. This building has been renovated and is now dedicated to artistic projects from all over the world. 200 artists can stay on site at the same site. Centquatre provides to those artists with the technical, financial and human resources for creating their work. And the most interesting fact is that public can watch the artists during the creation of their work and can be involved in the progress of the artistic works.

Adrien Rovero, industrial designer is one of the many artists who are staying at 104.

"Christian Lacroix Costumier Exhibition" at the National Museum of Singapore

This time we won't present a small and unknown designer that we discover by browsing the internet. We just want to inform you that an Exhibition about Christian Lacroix, famous french couturier from the 80's, have taken place at the National Museum of Singapore. You'll be glad to be inspired by 80 spectacular costumes and 60 sketches from the collection of National Costume Centre in France and from Lacroix himself.

I don't know why but I find it's more and more difficult to find original t-shirts. The t-shirts we can find on these new online shop seems all the same (except for the shops Fabrikade and crowning stroke that I found totally awesome).

Sixpack is an online shop but has also physical shop in France. I like this shop because their products are very original and are designed by young artists that are far to be mainstream...

Famous french comic: Le petit Nicolas

In English speaking countries you might know him as Little Nicholas, this little boy comes straight out of the imagination of two huge french artists : Jean-jaques Sempé, great designer and Rene Goscinny father of Asterix and Obelix. Every child in France has read the stories and adventures of Nicholas, not always so discplined, never mean, always so witty.

Why am I telling you about this charming little boy? Because I found a wonderfull bookshop that sells Little Nicholas stories in Singapore : Books actually is a Lovely place for whoever likes to browse and get lost among tones of books. They seem to have been all carefully chosen to display classics and more recent litterature with great attention to details such as the books cover and its design.

I'll share with you my findings from this bookshop, this morning I finished Breakfast At Tiffany's bought there...I know almost 30 and hadn't ever read it. I loved it.

Artist based in Singapore: Milica

Lets share more about Milica, one of the most talented artist we discovered at the Art Affair @ Wessex. We met this warm welcoming lady in her cosy appartment/galerie/workshop at the Wessex estate. Milica is from, Ex-yougoslavia, "the country where people have too much soul" as she puts it herself.

She definitly pored her surplus of soul in creating paintings that blend Singapore spirit and Eastern Europe. Using the technique of ink stampings, she re-ususes the paterns of the fabulous tiles you find in old shophouses in Chinatown and reproduces them in colourful manners. Something that reminds of Warhol and the photography reproductions he made back in the times of the Factory.
