Mark Jenkins, street installation

Mark Jenkins, street installation

I did not know who was Mark Jenkins so far. He is an American artist most widely known for the street installations he creates using packing tape.

Mark Jenkins said the following about the illegal aspects of street art: "There is opposition, and risk, but I think that just shows that street art is the sort of frontier where the leading edge really does have to chew through the ice. And it's good for people to remember public space is a battleground, with the government, advertisers and artists all mixing and mashing, and even now the strange cross-pollination taking place as street artists sometimes become brands, and brands camouflaging as street art creating complex hybrids or impersonators. I think it's understanding the strangeness of the playing field where you'll realize that painting street artists, writers, as the bad guys is a shallow view. As for the old bronzes, I really don't see them as part of what's going on in the dialogue unless addressed by a new intervention"

The resident tourist by Troy Chin

Posted by French Blast on 8/24/2009 0 comments

I discovered this amazing comics: The resident tourist drawn by Troy Chin. This a autobigraphy of the author who is singaporean and came back from the US where he used to work for a music label. For me, it was very interesting to see how Troy has seen his home country changed through the years where hw was away. I learnt also a lot about how singaporeans judge so called the "quitters": those singaporeans who has decided to live overseas for a while. You can read the resident evil part 1, part 2 and part 3 online, but you can also buy it at Ani-Play, G&B Comics and Kinokuniya Main Store.

When you live in Singapore and you are not a big fan of this little insects. I'm not sure you'll rush to buy these products. Anyway, you'll find all this atypical products at the atypyk shop of course

Chairwhore, a blog about chairs and nothing elseThe title is simple the tagline is explicit: a blog about chairs and nothing else. I hope that the authors of this blog will let me add that the design of this blog is excellent and all photos featuring those chairs are very beautiful. You'll find inspiration here if you decide to refurbish your living room.

A selection of my favorite chairs:
